Health Prevention Meetings
In order to mobilise and accelerate the sharing of knowledge in the field of prevention, the Ramsay Health Foundation launched the Health Prevention Meetings in 2018. Nearly 15 French and international speakers came to discuss the current place of prevention in the French healthcare system and to present different experiences abroad.
In 2019, the 2nd edition on the theme "Is being young seriously damaging to health?" is placed under the high patronage of the Ministry of Solidarity and Health. These meetings focused on the relationship between young people and preventive health care, thanks to the combined views of health professionals, prevention experts and numerous actors present in the field. Inaugurated by Gabriel Attal, Secretary of State to the Minister of Education and Youth, this 2nd edition used the results of the citizen consultation organised among young people to fuel the day's discussions.
Young people are not very receptive to barrier measures and prevention, and are going through the global health crisis with a feeling of invulnerability. However, their mental health is an issue, which is sadly reflected in the high stagnation of suicide figures, the second leading cause of death among young people after road accidents. For the 3rd edition of the Health Prevention Meetings, the Ramsay Health Foundation wanted to understand why the figures are not falling and to identify existing solutions.
In France, more than one in ten primary and secondary school pupils is a victim of school bullying and nearly 4% of secondary school pupils are still affected. Long considered a simple nuisance in the playground, school bullying and its extension on social networks actually have a devastating effect on their victims.
The Ramsay Health Foundation, continuing its investment in health prevention for young people, wanted to understand the mechanism of school bullying and its consequences on mental health and then present original and impactful actions in the territories or on social networks through two webinars during the 4th edition of its Health Prevention Meetings in 2021.
In March 2022, the 5th edition focused on the subject of screens: how screens have become an integral part of the lives of adolescents, why their use is so addictive, what psychological and physical consequences they can have on health, and how institutions, political authorities, associations and start-ups have tackled the subject from a prevention perspective.
See you on 6 April 2023 for the 6th edition of our meetings, which will address a topical subject: "Young people and sexual health: how to see clearly? "
